New Zealand vs Tonga Rugby 2011 World Cup at Eden Park

New Zealand won the opening match 41 - 10 against Tonga in Rugby 2011 World Cup at Eden Park, Auckland on Friday 9 September, 2011. Dan Carter of New Zealand, opened the scoring with an early penalty. In second half Isaia Toeava went close for the All Blacks but the video referee ruled he had been tackled into touch. Putting pressure by New Zealand got result in the 59th minute as Kahui regathered his own kick to put Flanker Jerome Kaino in for his 5th International try.

Alisona Taumalolo for Tonga - only their second-ever try against New Zealand. Alisona Taumalolo of Tonga scored a consolation try near the end stages of the match. Kurt Morath, who had kicked a penalty on the stroke of half-time, added the conversion.

Man of the Match is Richard Kahui of New Zealand.
