14th International Book Festival Budapest is scheduled from 24 April 2008 to 27 April 2008 at Budapest, Hungary. The aim of Budapest International Book Festival was to narrow the gap between East and West. This has done by promoting Hungarian Culture through Budapest Book Festival.
Maximum books as expected are Hungarian contains number of categories such as architecture, books on arts etc. The main attraction would be Author's singing session may take place in Vorosmarty ter.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The International Book Festival Budapest is organised by the Hungarian Publishers’ and Booksellers’ Association (H-1073 Budapest, Kertész u. 41, Hungary) in association with the Frankfurt Book Fair (D-60313 Frankfurt/Main, Reineckstrasse 3) (hereafter referred to as the Festival Management).
1Duration
1.1The 15th International Book Festival Budapest will be held at the Millenáris–House of Future (H-1024 Budapest, Kis Rókus u. 16-20) from 24 April through 27 April, 2008. The official opening will take place Thursday afternoon, 24 April, 2008.
On the day of the official opening the Festival will be open from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. For the rest of the Festival, doors are open to the public between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Exhibitors will have access to the Millenáris–House of Future from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
1.2The Festival Management reserves the right to postpone the Festival, to change the opening date, to alter business hours and duration, to exclude the public, to close the Festival early or cancel it altogether if there are important reasons for doing so. Any of these measures will have no effect on the validity of contracts with Exhibitors and the Festival Management’s claim for full payment of the stand rental.
2Exhibitors
2.1All publishers and booksellers from the host country and abroad may exhibit at the Festival and countries may also organise joint national exhibits. Companies involved in the book trade in a wider sense may also exhibit.
2.2The term ‘Publisher’ in our context includes the producers of newspapers and journals with a regular literary section, educational publications and computer software. Booksellers, book clubs, antiquarian booksellers, wholesalers, library suppliers, printing houses, packagers and literary agents may also rent a stand.
2.3In case of dispute the Festival Management will make the final decision. If the exhibited materials do not comply with the terms and conditions of participation the Exhibitor shall not attend the Festival.
3Exhibits
3.1Any publishing products and printed material may be exhibited as well as packaging materials and other products required for publications, audio-visual, and computerised media.
3.2The Festival Management will not exercise any form of censorship, but publications may not be exhibited if a law court in Hungary has banned their production, distribution or importation.
3.3Such banned publications may neither be promoted nor advertised at the Festival.
4Applications and Contracts
4.1Applications must be made on the enclosed Application Form, which should be mailed or faxed to us. All sections of the form must be completed by typewriter or in printed letters. The form must be returned to the Festival Management duly signed no later than the 18th January, 2008.
4.2The Exhibitor’s application is binding. After receipt of the applications the Festival Management will inform the exhibitor of its location which must be re-confirmed within 8 days. In case the re-confirmation is not received by the Festival Bureau within the given deadline, the application is cancelled. The contract becomes valid by the mailing of the invoice. Prior to this, an application can be cancelled only by registered letter.
4.3Should the Exhibitor’s participation be cancelled for any reason, the stand rental must still be paid in full. If the Festival Management can arrange the stand’s rental with another Exhibitor, the first Exhibitor must pay a cancellation fee of 10% of the stand rental to cover the Festival Management’s expenses.
4.4By signing the contract, the Exhibitor does not become entitled to claim a specific allocation for their stand. However, the Festival Management will attempt to comply with allocation requests and stand sizes wherever possible.
5Catalogue
Each Exhibitor whose application is received by or before the above-stipulated deadline is entitled to a standard catalogue entry (company’s name + 400 characters) in Hungarian and English. Extra entries may be included at an additional cost. Exhibitors will receive one catalogue per stand free. Additional copies, however, may be purchased. The Festival Management will not accept any liability for errors and omissions in the catalogue. Only those Exhibitors will appear in the catalogue who have sent us their entries no later than the 18th January, 2008.
6Stands
6.1The equipment and dressing of stands are subject to the Technical Specifications attached. In case of breach of these regulations, the Festival Management is entitled to arrange for necessary alterations at the Exhibitor’s cost.
6.2The Setting Up and Dismantling of Stands
6.2.1Exhibitors renting an empty stand area may start setting up their stands at 9:00 a.m. on April 23, Wednesday. The furnishing of set-up stands in the Millenáris–House of Future shall be done between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on April 24, Thursday.
6.2.2Stands must be dismantled between 6 p.m. and midnight 27 April, 2008.
6.3Stands are guarded from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. the next morning during the Festival. The security company shall only take responsibility if no-one stays at the stand during this period.
7Delivery to the Stands
Exhibition materials may be delivered to the Millenáris–House of Future from 8 a.m. on April 24, 2008. Prior to this the Festival Management and the Millenáris–House of Future are unable to receive, store or guard exhibition materials.
8Terms of Payment
8.1Rental and charges for additional services are payable by transfer with the Festival Management’s invoice by the stipulated date.
8.2Any Exhibitor who fails to pay the stand rental fee or the costs of any additional service to the Festival Management in time will forfeit their right of participation while still remaining liable for full payment of charges.
9Pass to the Festival
The exhibitors shall receive free exhibitor’s passes according to the size of their stand rented at the Festival. This pass shall serve as an admission card to the Millenáris–House of Future.
10Insurance
It is the responsibility of the Exhibitors to insure their exhibits as well as their own and hired stand equipment against burglary, theft, damage by fire or water, and damage during transit to and from the Millenáris–House of Future. There is no collective blanket insurance.
11Conduct at the Festival
11.1Each Exhibitor shares the responsibility of ensuring the success of the Festival and must refrain from any action likely to cause unacceptable disturbance or hindrance to other Exhibitors or the Festival in general.
11.2Exhibitors must respect the constitutional rights of national, ethnic, racial and religious groups living in Hungary or participating in the Festival. Exhibitors are on no account to violate these groups’ rights or to excite against them.
12Non-compliance with terms and conditions
The Festival Management may exclude any Exhibitor from the Festival if they do not comply with the terms and conditions and persist in the non compliance after due warning or in case of repeated breach of Contract for which they have received due warning at previous Festivals. In particularly serious cases, the Exhibitor may also be excluded from future Festivals. Instead of exclusion, the Festival Management is entitled to impose a penalty of up to 50% of the stand rental fee.
13Claims of the Exhibitor
Any legal claim on the part of the Exhibitor, whether arising from the Contract or otherwise, must be submitted in writing to the Festival Management within 10 days after the Festival closes. Irrespective of this limitation, the claim will lapse unless a Court before the end of the respective calendar year upholds it.
14Venue, Jurisdiction, Applicable Laws
In case of litigation between the Festival Management and an Exhibitor arising from a breach of Contract, the venue for settlement shall be the city of Budapest, and the dispute shall be settled before a competent Court of Law with the English version of the Contract used for interpretation. The laws of the Republic of Hungary apply.
The deadline for the return of the catalogue entry is 18th January, 2008. No catalogue entry will be accepted after the deadline.
